NGV Kids program stops by

Families across Melton and Moorabool will be able to tap into a summer of creativity when NGV Kids on Tour 2026 rolls into local libraries this January, bringing free art-making activities to children of all ages.

Part of a statewide program visiting more than 160 venues across Victoria, NGV Kids on Tour delivers hands-on workshops inspired by celebration, imagination and play, right in the heart of local communities.

In Melton, the program will stop at Melton Library and Learning Hub on January 21, while Moorabool families can enjoy sessions at Lerderderg Library on January 13 and 15 and Ballan Library on January 14 and 16.

Inspired by the NGV’s summer children’s exhibition Let’s Party! Fashion for Kids Designed by Danielle Brustman, the 2026 tour has a festive theme. Activities include decorating colourful party hats, designing imaginative celebration cakes, and joining in creative party games that encourage kids to connect and have fun together.

There are also reflective and nature-based sessions, such as What’s New?, where children chat with adults about how everyday life has changed over the years before drawing what they discover, and Nature and Us with Olaf Breuning, which invites younger children to explore forests, animals and insects through guided drawing and storytime.

Teens can take part in Perfume in the 1700s, designing their own perfume bottle inspired by history, fantasy or pop culture.
