Bacchus Marsh Grammar has acquired a new $10,000 student scholarship from the property developers behind Woodlea estate.

The Woodlea campus was presented with the Dino Strano scholarship, to be awarded to a Year 8 student who resides in Aintree and shows exemplary qualities.

The scholarship was presented by property developer VIP and Mirvac and named after the founding and managing director of civil contractor Winslow, a company that also contributed to Woodlea estate.

Mr Strano said he was honoured to have an award named after him that will benefit the local community.

“Providing our people, our resources and our infrastructure equipment is what we do best. Family and education is important to us, and strong communities, such as Woodlea, are built for families by families,” he said.

Bacchus Marsh Grammar principal Andrew Neal said the school was grateful to Winslow, VIP and Mirvac for extending this gesture to the school community.

Bacchus Marsh Grammar seeks to make the educational opportunities available to as many as possible and scholarships are a way of allowing access to the school for students who exhibit excellence or who otherwise would not be able to attend because of the fees,” Mr Neal said.

“The Dino Strano Scholarship has a particular feature of being directed towards students who may not otherwise be able to afford the fees of the School but live in the Woodlea Estate,

“By the nature of the selection process we find scholarship holders, in the main, to be significant contributors to the life of the school and at the same time are students who will make the most of opportunities the school provides.”
