Woodlea and the state government officially announced the details of a new primary school in Aintree last month, with the school set to cater for up to 650 students.
Opening in 2027 and with an interim name of Aintree North Primary School, the school will be constructed within Woodlea on an approximately 8.6-acre site along Wildwood Road.
According to Woodlea, the school was initially announced in this year’s state budget as part of $336.4 million towards new schools and the site was secured following more than three years of collaboration between the Victorian School Building Authority and Woodlea – with the construction of essential road infrastructure and land sale a part of this process.
The VSBA will lead the planning and approval process and construction will begin soon after.
Woodlea community manager Claire Mouser said that the new primary school will bring greater schooling choice to families in Woodlea and the wider Melton growth corridor.
“We’re excited to see this new school supporting our growing community with thoughtful, well-placed infrastructure,“ Ms Mouser said.
Prospective Aintree North Primary School parent Snehika Paspunuri said she was looking forward to the accessibility and the “thoughtful features that are sure to be included in the school.”
“The convenience is unbeatable too – it will be just four minutes from my home, so it’s perfect,” Ms Paspunuri said.
Woodlea project director Matthew Dean said the announcement was a “proud moment for Woodlea,” and a “major step” in supporting its growing population.
