Two new container deposit scheme refund points have landed in Melton and Moorabool.
A reverse vending machine refund point is available at Woodgrove Shopping Centre in Melton West and Cross Roads Trading in Ballan.
TOMRA Cleanaway manages the west zone for the state government’s container deposit scheme, where people can recycle cans, glass bottles, and plastic bottles for a 10 cent refund per unit.
People can donate their earnings to local groups and organisations who are fundraising with help from the CDS.
In Melton, locals can donate to Friends of the Melton Botanic Garden to help it build and enhance the garden, and the Melton State Emergency Service unit so it can purchase a replacement vehicle.
Moorabool residents can choose to donate to the Bacchus Marsh SES crew for its rescue tool enhancement project or Gordon Football and Netball Club for its playground fundraiser.
TOMRA Cleanaway chief executive James Dorney said the introduction of these refund points would help locals to recycle easier.
“We’re very excited to have landed new CDS Vic refund points in Ballan and Melton West, allowing locals a location where they can conveniently drop off their eligible drink containers for recycling,” he said.
“Our machines are quick, convenient, and automated, and able to be seamlessly integrated into retail and community locations.”
