Navigators will receive a new multi-purpose community hub through funding from the state government as part of an initiative to create more jobs and support community projects in regional Victoria.

Buningyong MP Michaela Settle announced $326,000 in funding for the project on Wednesday April 13 through the second round of the Labor Government’s Regional Infrastructure Fund.

The new community hub will replace the old hall and public toilets and will be designed to hold a range of events and groups from Navigators and the surrounding communities.

The facilities will include a multi-purpose space, kitchen, storage and accessible amenities available for the community and visitors to use.

Local groups such as the Navigators Tennis Club will be able to hold community events and use the facilities to support their growth.

Ms Settle said the navigators community will now have a new, modern and accessible community space to come together and meet.

“Replacing the old and worn out shed and public toilets, this new facility will help give the tennis club and other local groups a major boost,” she said.

Moorabool Shire mayor Cr Tom Sullivan said the new community hub was great news.

“The Navigators Community and the Committee of Management have worked tirelessly over a long time to make this dream come to fruition,” he said.

Navigators Tennis Club president Rick Stephens said the announcement of the new community hub was received with great relief and excitement by the community.

“The hub will allow for the current interest groups of the tennis club, history group and craft group to use a more suitable and functional facility, but will also attract new members and interest groups,” Mr Stephens said.

“This hub will help further build the community bonds in this active and engaged community.”
