A strong focus on patient experience is high on the list of priorities for Djerriwarrh Health Service’s new chief executive.
Belinda Scott, who has 25 years experience in the health sector, was appointed to the top job earlier this month.
She will replace former chief Andrew Freeman, who stepped down in January to take on a role at Western Health.
A registered nurse by profession, Ms Scott held a variety of different positions throughout her career, most recently at Northern Health.
Ms Scott said she looked forward to working with the staff and people of Melbourne’s west.
“I look forward to commencing my new role at Djerriwarrh and to working with staff to ensure patients, residents, volunteers and visitors receive a level of care and attention that is second to none,” she said.
Djerriwarrh Health Services administrator John Ballard said Ms Scott possessed a broad base of experience in delivering health care and had a strong focus on patient experience.
“The cornerstone of any health service is strong, focused leadership and I am confident Belinda will provide this for Djerriwarrh,” Dr Ballard said. “She is a highly experienced senior health administrator and I have no doubt she will provide excellent leadership for our highly-skilled and revitalised workforce.”
He said that her appointment would better equip it to meet the needs of the community.
“Belinda will be focused on leading and positioning the health service to fully embed the major changes implemented over the last number of years, and on delivering outstanding levels of clinical care for all patients.”
Head of nursing Amanda Edwards will continue as interim chief executive until Ms Scott starts on June 25.
