Moorabool carers and people with disabilities will have questions answered about how the National Disability Insurance Scheme will work for them.
A November 26 meeting at Ballan will outline the scheme, which is gradually being rolled out across Australia and is due to be introduced from Bacchus Marsh to Ballarat in the new year.
The scheme is a federal government-run healthcare program that provides funding for people with disabilities, service providers and carers.
Meeting organiser Amber Durante, of Embrace ASD, said the meeting will outline how residents can get “credible and relevant information”.
“The NDIS will give individualised support for people with a significant and permanent disability,” Ms Durante said.
“In the Barwon region trial, 44 per cent of all applicants with an autism spectrum disorder received funding. It’s also vital to get the right kind of support when applying for the NDIS, and that’s where this session will be really valuable.”
Embrace ASD manager Janine Buttigieg said the disability insurance scheme will replace older funding models, and people need to know how this affects them.
The meeting starts at 11.30am at the Embrace ASD Wellbeing library of Ballan Primary School.
