What is your connection to Moorabool?
My family has a long history in this region and established long-term relationships with many and varied locals I fondly embrace.
How long have you lived in the area?
I moved to Myrniong in 2009 after purchasing a very run-down pub, The Plough. I wanted a lifestyle to accommodate my family and my business.
Tell me about your latest fundraiser for Ballan hospital?
This year’s annual “Love Is In The Air” fundraiser for Ballan hospital will be the sixth event held. We are raising funds to refurbish the Ballan District Health and Care Memory Support Unit (Dementia Unit). It is a wonderful gathering for the entire community, especially people who are new to the region. Our fantastic local businesses supply goods to assist in the fundraising efforts.
What are you passionate about in terms of “Love Is In The Air”?
Good food, great wine and delivering people reasons to return to Moorabool.
Besides being a restaurateur, what other hats do you wear in the community?
Board member of Bacchus Marsh Grammar where I sometimes assist with their hospitality classes. This community serves my philanthropic interests, which is very important for me.
How much money have you raised for local causes?
We have raised $117,000 for Ballan Health and approximately $98,000 for Bacchus Marsh Hospital, Bluebird House, Darley Neighbourhood House.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I am up to level 320 on Candy Crush and would prefer to be “locked out” rather than pay to continue!
What is the best thing about Moorabool?
The abundance of beautiful, local produce and the excellence of producers within our region.
If you could change anything about the area, what would it be?
