Mums will be on the run – or walking – in Eynesbury on Mother’s Day.
The local version of the nationwide Mother’s Day Classic is in its second year, with women and their families looking forward to taking part in a four-kilometre walk or six-kilometre run to raise money to help the fight against breast cancer.
The fun run event will start in Eynesbury before taking in Grey Box Forest.
Organiser Effie Mavrakis has been running training sessions with local mums in the lead-up to the event.
“When the opportunity to organise the Mother’s Day Classic in Eynesbury came up, I really wanted to do something,” Ms Mavrakis said. “It’s for a good cause.
“The more money that goes into research about cancer, which affects about one in eight women, the better.
“It’s just a walk, a bit of fun … why not put that walk to good use?
“We all come together on Mother’s Day to remember, celebrate and honour those touched by breast cancer.”
Those unable to join the walk or fun run on the day can still be involved by registering online as a “Support us in Spirit” participant.
Registration costs $25 for adults and $15 for children.
