Motorcyclist dies following Melton West collision

Police are looking for two people following a fatal collision in Melton West.

A motorcyclist was travelling south along Bulmans Road about 6.45am on Tuesday when it turned onto High Street, veered onto the wrong side of the road and collided with a car.

The male motorcyclist, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene. The driver of the car was not injured and stopped to assist.

“Police are yet to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the collision, however have been told the rider may have been traveling in convoy with a second motorbike and a small black car,” Victoria Police spokeswoman Natalie Butler said.

“Investigators have been told the second motorcyclist may not have been wearing a helmet at the time.”

Police say the driver of the black car and the other motorcyclist did not stop at the accident. Police are urging the two to come forward.

Witnesses and dash-cam footage of the incident is being sought.

High Street, between Bulmans Road and Fairhaven Boulevard, is currently closed.
