Melton South was visited by Housing Minister Richard Wynne this week where the $2.7 million social housing development on Coburns Road has been recently completed as part of the state government’s $5.3 billion Big Housing Build.

The development has eight two-bedroom, single-storey townhouses, increasing much needed housing options for people at risk of or experiencing homelessness, aged and disability pensioners, and women and children escaping family violence.

It has also contributed to Melton’s economy, creating 23 local jobs.

The homes were delivered in partnership with community housing agency Community Housing (Vic) Limited, which will own the homes and manage tenancies.

“The completion of this development is an important milestone in this incredible investment in more social and affordable housing across the state,” Mr Wynne said.

“Our Big Housing Build is providing a roof over their head for Victorians who need it and creating thousands of local jobs while supporting our state’s economic recovery.”

Melton MP Steve McGhie said: “This investment is providing a roof over the head of those who need it most and is great news for our local community”.
