Moorabool residents dug deep on Good Friday to raise thousands of dollars for the Royal Children’s Hospital for the Good Friday Appeal.
According to the Good Friday Appeal regional towns tally, Bacchus Marsh raised $30,643, Ballan raised $19,131 and Trentham raised $5,469. Other towns in Moorabool were not listed online.
The donations contributed to a record-breaking total tally of $22,328,154 for this year’s funds, which brought the total amount donated over the history of the appeal to more than $421 million.
The Good Friday Appeal stated that $2,581,661 of the funds this year came from regional and rural Victoria.
Bacchus Marsh Lions Club appeal area manager David Atterbury said the club was “stoked” about reaching more than $30 thousand in donations.
“We’re very happy about it, we really are,” he said.
Mr Atterbury thanked volunteers and donors for being “exceedingly” generous this year and said the Lions club already had ambitious plans for fundraising efforts in 2023.
“We’re already planning to beat the total next year.”
Funds raised for the Good Friday Appeal this year will go directly to the Children’s Cancer Centre and CARES (4 Kids), which provides cancer allied health resources, education and support programs.
Good Friday Appeal chairman Penny Fowler said the organisation was “incredibly” grateful to the whole community for their generous donations.
“The appeal is all about Victorians giving what they can, everyone doing just a little to create something big, improving countless lives,” she said.
