Moorabool councillor passes away

Moorabool council has announced that councillor Pat Toohey died this morning, following a battle with ill health.

Deputy mayor John Keogh made a statement this afternoon, with Cr Toohey unable to attend council meetings and events in recent months while receiving treatment.

“It is with great sadness that council wishes to advise the community of the death of Cr Pat Toohey, this morning,” Cr Keogh said.

“Cr Toohey has been our Woodlands Ward councillor since 2004, and will be dearly missed by councillors, staff and his local community.

“We extend our deepest sympathy to Pat’s wife Loretta and their family.

“A condolence book will be made available at our Ballan office for any members of the community who wish to come in and write a message for Cr Toohey’s family.”

The council will announce funeral arrangements in the coming days.
