Moorabool council to host public forum on planning document

(Damjan Janevski)

Moorabool council will host an online session on Wednesday, March 9, in a bid to help the community understand how to make a submission towards AusNet’s statement, which will detail environmental effects of its transmission network project.

The Environmental Effects Statement (EES) process aims to allow decision makers to make informed conclusions about whether a project should proceed given its relative impact on the environment.

In August 2020, the state government ordered AusNet to prepare an EES.

The construction of AusNet’s proposed 190-kilometre transmission line has stoked frustration with residents and landholders, concerned with how it may affect land access and wildlife.

The delivery of the ESS is expected later this year.

The document will include details regarding how the project will affect agriculture, landscape, historic heritage, ecology and more.

Council’s information session will include a panel of expert speakers with prior experience with the EES process.
