Mental health bonus for the north west

More mental health support services will be available to Melton and Moorabool residents.

CAREinMIND intensive support services are now available for free, online or over the phone, across the North Western Primary Health Care Network region by referral.

The service offers anyone aged over 16, who has severe and complex mental illness, access to mental health nurses who work with general practitioners and psychiatrists.

Primary health network chief Christopher Carter said the CAREinMIND intensive support service was designed to provide a more intensive level of care for those who don’t require or aren’t eligible for hospital-based mental health services.

“The fact that the Intensive Support Service will now be available in all of our 13 local government areas is a huge achievement,” assistant professor Carter said.

“The service is an integral component to our CAREinMIND stepped model of care ensuring mental health services are widely available and flexible for those that need it most.”

Mental health nurses will provide clinical mental health care, medication management and care co-ordination.
