The heart of Melton has been transformed with a raft of upgrades to the town centre.
The $13.1 million revamp, delivered by Melton council in five stages since 2015, was officially opened last week.
Improved pedestrian and bicycle access, an amphitheatre upgrade, courthouse cafe decking, landscaping and public lighting are among upgrades to High Street’s streetscape.
The development includes carparking and public toilet upgrades and a revamp of the entire Wallace Square precinct.
Melton MP Steve McGhie said the new facilities would make a “huge difference” to the community.
“I’m pleased to see the revitalised town centre complete,” Mr McGhie said.
Local Government Minister Adem Somyurek said the completion of the Melton town centre project meant residents had a great place to live, meet and work.
“The Growing Suburbs Fund is specifically designed to deliver practical outcomes for communities,” Mr Somyurek said.
“The Melton Town Centre will help contribute to the economic and social prosperity of the people of Melton and be a point of connection for future generations.”
The project attracted $3.7 million in state funding with the rest coming from the federal government and Melton council.
