One of Melton’s hidden gems will be showcased as part of a national botanic garden open day celebration.

The gates of Melton Botanic Garden will open at 10am on Sunday, May 29, for 30-minute guided tours of the gardens.

Friends of the Melton Botanic Garden president John Bentley is inviting Melton residents to come and explore their “beautiful garden”.

“Who knows? You may find your inner botanist,” he said.

“It’s a great place to visit and an opportunity for people to see another hidden gem in Melton.

“By taking part in the open day, you will be joining thousands of people across the nation who will be visiting their local botanic garden, connecting with their neighbours and perhaps uncovering a new passion for protecting the plants that give us life.”

At the Melton garden, there will be nature-themed quilts made by the Melton Willows Quilters on display, a sausage sizzle and refreshments.

The garden, at 21 Williams Street, will be open from 10am-4pm. Details: 9743 3819
