A mum from the Melton area can’t wait to shower her children with gifts for many years to come after taking home $50 million in a Powerball draw with a ticket she purchased online at the last minute.
The Melburnian held one of the two division one winning entries in Powerball draw 1420, drawn Thursday, August 3, and took home $50 million.
The victorious Victorian took a little longer to discover her newfound fortune in last night’s Powerball draw as some of her contact details, such as her email, was incorrect.
The gleeful woman couldn’t contain her excitement this morning when she discovered her multi-million-dollar windfall while at work, erupting into a cheer that spread through her workplace.
“I can’t believe this. What a dream come true,” she said.
“I purchased this winning ticket right before the draw closed.”
When the winner received the call that she’d won, she said she was surrounded by colleagues and that were all clapping and cheering.
“This is absolutely life-changing. This will help me look after my kids,” she said.
“My kids mean the world to me, and I’ll be able to set them up for the future.
“I’ll also look forward to saying goodbye to my job.”
