Melton teens arrested in relation to St Kilda stabbing

Police have charged two Melton teens with a number of offences as part of the Homicide Squad investigation into the fatal stabbing in St Kilda earlier this month.

Warrants were executed from 6am at five residential addresses across Melbourne’s north-west suburbs by members of the Homicide Squad, Gang Crime Squad and VIPER Taskforce, along with local police.

A 16-year-old Kurunjang boy and a 17-year-old Taylors Hill boy were arrested and interviewed by police.

Both have subsequently been charged with affray and violent disorder in relation to the incident.

The Taylor’s Hill boy has also been charged with aggravated burglary in relation to a separate matter.

The pair faced a children’s court on Wednesday, December 14.

Today’s arrests form part of the investigation into the fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old Tarneit man in St Kilda on December 4.

Emergency services were called to St Kilda beach just after 7.30pm that night following reports of people fighting.

The teenage victim was located with stab wounds on the beach in the vicinity of Pier Road.

He was taken to hospital where he later died

Police would also like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and has mobile phone vision, CCTV or dash-cam footage.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing and police expect to arrest several more people in relation to the matter.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
