An Exford Road takeaway shop has been significantly damaged in a fire this morning.
Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews responded to multiple reports of a shop fire at 13 Exford Road, Melton South, shortly before 8am.
Crews arrived within four minutes to find a takeaway food shop fully ablaze.
With the fire threatening neighbouring shops, crews used in breathing apparatus used multiple hoselines to quell the flames and stop its spread.
The fire was declared under control at 8.28am, 32 minutes after FRV arrived on scene.
The building has sustained significant damage in the fire.
A municipal building surveyor will attend the scene to assess the safety of the structure.
The fire was contained to the one shop.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined but will be investigated by FRV fire investigators.
