Fire fighters are battling a house fire in Hunter Street, Melton South.
Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a structure fire at 10.35am after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a house fire.
Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find a brick veneer dwelling well alight.
Crews wore breathing apparatus to conduct a search of the property as one person was initially unaccounted for.
A short time later it was confirmed the occupant was outside but a search continued for a pet.
Victoria Police are on scene.
Ambulance Victoria is treating one patient for possible smoke inhalation.
A community warning was issued for smoke in the area.
