Young creatives in Melton have won big with money available for them to lead events and activities in September this year.
Melton will be one of the key areas for Youth Fest 2024, with more than half the events to be held in Melton, Hoppers Crossing, Collingwood, and Berwick
Melton council, Melton lbraries, Orygen Melton and Vision Hub Australia are all recipients of $2000 grants from the state government youth fest program.
A clothes swap at headspace Melton, which is designed to encourage social inclusion, is among one of the many things that will take place.
Overall 110 recipients have received grants.
Melton MP Steve McGhie said the funding provided a significant opportunity for local youths to showcase their skills and propel their confidence.
“We are proud to support youth-led events that promote the talents of young Melton residents,” he said.
“These events are integral to building a sense of community and amplifying the voices of young people.”
The initiative is part of the state government’s investment in supporting young people to organise and deliver events, share ideas, build social connections, and expand their networks.
It has funded the delivery of more than 400 Youth Fest events in the past four years.
