Melton projects receive $6.46 million funding boost

Melton council has received a $6.46 million funding announcement from the latest round of the state government’s Growing Suburbs Fund (GSF).

The council has secured funding for five new projects, including Cobblebank Community Services Hub, Earlington Square Reserve Upgrade, the Parkway Reserve Upgrade, Navan Park Reserve Upgrade and Bridge Road Recreation Reserve Stage 2.

The $1.62 million upgrade of Navan Park will improve connectivity and amenity throughout the park by improving tree planting, natural play areas, and amenities around the lake.

This will enhance the range of passive and recreation facility offerings for all members of our diverse community.

Melton mayor Goran Kesic said the council was delighted with the state government’s announcement and contribution to these exciting projects.

“This funding means that vital community infrastructure including the redevelopment of existing recreation reserves, construction of new leisure infrastructure at Bridge Road, and the delivery of the much-needed Cobblebank Community Services Hub, will get off the ground sooner,” Cr

Kesic said.

“This is an outstanding result for our community and I’m looking forward to seeing all these projects come to life.

“On behalf of Council, I extend my thanks to the state government for their ongoing support.

“The Victorian government’s Growing Suburbs Fund is a vital program that supports the critical delivery of infrastructure and responds to the pressures experienced by fast-growing and interface outer suburban areas like the City of Melton.

“We certainly hope to see it continue long into the future.”
