Melton Primary School pupils are helping out people in their city who are homeless. Nine grade four pupils recently ran a food drive, collecting pantry staples to donate to Melton food bank. The two-week drive ended on September 2, and pupils collected close to 2000 items. Teacher Angela Vaccaro said the young organisers approached her about running the food drive after studying homelessness, and had inquired about collecting food to hand out to people in need. “I told them about the food bank, and they decided to run a food drive themselves to collect food to donate,” she said. Ms Vaccaro said the pupils are rightfully proud of the amount of food they collected.
