Melton Parents Ed program expands for 2023

Melton council are expanding their free Parent Education Program.

To help support all families of young children in the City of Melton, council has expanded its free Parent Education Program with more groups, sessions and locations for 2023.

Under the program, Parent Group Educators will provide the educational component that families would usually receive at the Key Age and Stage visits through the Maternal and Child Health service.

The program also gives parents an opportunity to ask questions, hear from other parents and get information and support.

Families can choose from the following free groups:

• Development at 4 months

• Development at 8 months

• Development at 12 months

• Development at 18 months

• Development at 2 years

• Development at 3 and a half years

• Infant Program

• Managing Challenging Behaviour

• Toddler Play and Development

• Toddler Nutrition and Fussy Eating

• Toilet Training

The Parent Education Program is designed to support and guide parents through their child’s growth and development and is a useful tool for all local families of young children.

Melton Mayor Cr Lara Carli said council wants to offer more parent groups to help guide families through their “key milestones”.

“The first few years of a child’s life are a big learning journey for parents and carers and we’re doing what we can to answer questions and help everyone feel supported,” she said.

“Please remember, we’re also continuing to offer a range of other support services such as lactation support and first-time parent groups.”
