Melton mum nominated for ausmumpreneur awards

Lara Jennings knows the ins and outs of teaching … and its ups and downs.

The Melton mother not only juggles a toddler and a newborn, she’s also juggling a home-based business that has just been nominated for an AusMumpreneur award.

Ms Jennings decided to start her Offspring Education business early this year after noticing a gap between school and home learning.

“We’re about bridging the gap between the home and school environment,” she said.

“We provide early-learning resources to early-learning centres, schools and kinders. And we also work with home-schooling parents and parents who want to be more engaged in their child’s learning.”

The response to the business and resources has been great, said Ms Jennings, who strongly recommends parents engage in their child’s learning.

“A lot of people don’t realise parent engagement is actually the most important influence on a child’s academic achievements,” she said.

“That influence can be anywhere between 40 to 50 per cent – it’s a massive influence.”

Ms Jennings said the AusMumpreneur award nomination had “validated” she was on the right track. Winners will be announced on September 5.
