The state government has delivered on its election promise for the Melton Hospital, with the state budget delivering funds for a business case.
Today’s budget has announced $2.4 million to plan for the first stage of a new hospital, with work to determine the location, size and range of services.
The commitment was a key part of the Andrew’s Government’s pre-election promises for Melton.
Land in Cobblebank has been earmarked as the site for the hospital.
Melton Council and the local community have long advocated for a local hospital, with mayor Bob Turner previously saying it was a key part of the municipality’s future.
““Our residents deserve improved health outcomes and this funding is the first step towards more accessible, quality health care in the City of Melton,” Cr Turner said.
