Melton residents are being encouraged to donate gifts to the annual Melton Country Club wishing tree.

Throughout December, residents are encouraged to provide gifts and toys that will then be distributed to families less fortunate and who cannot afford gifts for their children this Christmas.

Functions and marketing co-ordinator, Naomi Colosimo, said: “Our aim is to request our staff, members and the community of Melton to please give a small gift for a child that will miss out on opening a present from Santa through no fault of their own.

“The thought of a little boy or girl with no present to unwrap breaks our heart.”

Residents can leave gifts under the tree at the club at 28-30 Reserve Road, Melton, until December 18.

The toys will then be distributed to the less fortunate children of Melton by Melton City Council Family Services.
