A group of Melton dancers has stepped up to win a national dance competition.
Galactic Dance and Events students – under- 10s, 13s and 15s – triumphed in the Follow Your Dreams competition’s jazz, hip-hop and contemporary genres in Ballarat earlier this month and won first place overall.
Galactic principal Andrew Micallef said the students “flourished” with every round of the competition.
“I watched their confidence grow more and more through each round, which was an awesome feeling,” Mr Micallef said.
“And for the last [round], I saw how hyped they were. It actually got overwhelming following their journey throughout the day. It was amazing.”
The students had been rehearsing for the competition since last October after qualifying for the Melbourne rounds.
All the students’ hard work and practice paid off.
“Watching them find that drive and passion was phenomenal,” Mr Micallef said.
“They have grown significantly since October.
“I’m so proud of them … and they’re really, really proud of themselves.”
