Melton council has appointed Roslyn Wai as its new chief executive, bringing a “wealth of knowledge” to municipality.
In a statement, council said Ms Wai has had more than 30 years’ experience working across local government, water, tertiary education and media sectors.
“I am delighted to be joining Melton City Council in 2022 to work for and with the community and council,” Ms Wai said.
“It’s an exciting vision that the community of Melton has created for its future, and I look forward to being a part of the team that brings it to life.”
Ms Wai’s was most recently Hume council’s communications, engagement and advocacy director and served as the city’s interim chief executive until July.
Melton mayor Goran Kesic said Ms Wai was an experienced and highly regarded executive leader committed to delivering positive outcomes for the community.
“We are delighted to welcome Roslyn to the role of CEO, and congratulate her on this appointment,” Cr Kesic said.
“As a skilled leader with strong experience in organisational strategy, stakeholder engagement and people management, Roslyn will be an asset to Melton City Council.
“Her effective leadership, diverse experience and strong community focus will be invaluable as the city continues to navigate the prospects and challenges of rapid growth.
“The City of Melton is one of Australia’s fastest growing areas. It’s an exciting time full of opportunity and we’re confident that Roslyn’s leadership and dedication will help council to create a thriving future for our community.”
Ms Wai will begin her role on January 26, 2022 and her first official duty will be to attend council’s Australia Day celebration at The Willows.
