Melton and Moorabool received less rain than forecasts predicted, as thunderstorms, flooding and severe weather lashed parts of the state at the weekend.
Suburbs around Melton received about 40 millimetres of rain, with Diggers Rest bearing the brunt of the rainfall at
42 millimetres. Bacchus Marsh received 38 millimetres while Ballan had a downpour of 37 millimetres.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Michael Efron told
Star Weekly that although the rain was not as severe as expected, it was still much higher than this time last year.
Melton SES deputy controller operations Rod Frayser said volunteers braced for a much busier weekend.
“It wasn’t as busy as we were expecting,” Mr Frayser said. “We had eight call-outs and most of those were for building damage.”
