Melton adopts three plans

Melton’s council and wellbeing, financial plan and asset plans have been adopted by Melton council.

All three plans were adopted at the Monday, July 28 council meeting.

The council and wellbeing plan will set out Melton’s vision, priorities, and strategic direction over the next four years and was informed by a 50-member deliberative community panel.

According to the council, this panel represented a broad cross-section of the community and the final draft was provided for community feedback.

The plan is aimed at enacting a vision of a welcoming and liveable city accessible to all, supported by strategic themes of a healthy and inclusive community, a thriving and well-designed city, and a progressive and trusted council.

This will be implemented through annual action plans and aligned with the annual budget planning process, which is aimed at ensuring it continues to reflect the evolving needs of the community.

The council also adopted its ten-year financial plan, outlining how it will use available funds and additional revenue opportunities to deliver council services, programs, and infrastructure over the next decade, while aiming to ensure financial sustainability over the long term.

The council also adopted its ten-year asset plan, which sets out its long-term strategy for managing its more than 250,000 built assets, while aiming to ensure these are maintained and improved in a way that supports community needs into the future.

Mayor Steve Abboushi said that these strategic plans provide a roadmap to help guide the work of council and the future of our wonderful city.

“We look forward to leading the delivery of these priorities so [the Melton municipality] can continue to be a welcoming and liveable city for current and future generations to live, grow, and enjoy,” he said.
