Kurunjang’s biggest residential Christmas light show is back this year to raise even more money for the Very Special Kids Foundation.

The Greenland family has been lighting up Melrome Court since 2018 to raise money for the holistic palliative care charity, which helped them get through the tragic death of their son Jonah.

The house first lit up on December 9, and from Friday, December 15, the extravagant lighting show will be complemented by nightly visits from beloved characters such as Bluey and Bingo, the Paw Patrol and Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

The Greenlands said there’s also some new surprises in store that they’re keeping under wraps for now.

The performances build to a grand finale on Christmas Eve when the Melton CFA will give Santa a ride into the court.

The shows raised more than $5,000 last year, and this year the Greenlands have set a $6,000 target.

Brett Greenland said his family is excited about this year’s display.

“It gives us a massive chance to honour the story of our little angel in heaven, Jonah, as well as raising much needed awareness for Very Special Kids,” he said.

“Without their assistance, my family, along with countless others, would not have the ongoing support that is crucial during challenging times.

“Grief is a complex and individual experience, particularly when a child is involved. Navigating through it is a daunting task, and even as the world moves forward, the sense of loss remains constant.”

Mr Greenland thanked the community for their support – including donors, volunteers, neighbours and West Traffic who ensure the event is run safely.
