May day for Star Wars fans

May the fourth be with you as Stormtroopers, Skywalkers and Star Wars fans of all forms take over the Melton Library and Learning Hub.

Fans of the epic science fiction films can come dressed as their favourite hero or villain from Star Wars for the event on May 4.

There will be activities, games, crafts and special guests along for the night.

Education partnerships librarian Jessie Michael said the aim was to encourage young people to share their interests.

“Everyone is getting their costumes ready and looking forward to a fun evening,” Ms Michael said. “It’s about getting kids excited and making sure that the library is a fun space where they can come and enjoy their interests.”

She said the Star Wars night follows the success of a Harry Potter-themed event last year.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The event will be held between 6pm and 8pm. Bookings are essential.
