Plenty of laughter and learning are in store this month as the Victorian Seniors Festival gets under way.
University of the Third Age (U3A) Melton will be among hundreds of groups hosting activities and promoting seniors programs throughout the festival, which will include scrabble nights, art exhibitions, movie screenings and other entertainment.
More than 1500 events and activities will be held around the state as part of the festival, now in its 35th year, which celebrates the contribution that senior Victorians more than
60 years old make to their communities.
The Minister for Ageing, Martin Foley, launched the festival last Sunday.
“The festival is part of our work to create an inclusive Victoria for all those aged 60 years and above, and provide a range of activities to keep our seniors healthy and active,” he said.
The festival also helps acknowledge the high rate of volunteering among Victorian seniors.
