A man has been charged over an alleged armed robbery in Hillside.

It is believed two men entered a convenience store on Antionetta Way about 4.30pm on Saturday, December 11, where one of the men allegedly produced a firearm before stealing cash and cigarettes.

Police said the men then fled in a blue Ford.

No one was injured in the incident, according to police.

It is also alleged that the same people were involved in an earlier armed robbery and a petrol drive-off in the Laverton area.

A 24-year-old Laverton man has been charged with two counts of armed robbery, three counts of unlicensed driving and one count of theft.

He was remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court yesterday.

Police are yet to identify the second man.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
