A 25-year-old Melton man has been charged following the theft of a motorcycle from an address in Tarneit on Saturday 7 February.
Police successfully located the stolen vehicle after the owner was able to track the bike after it made its way into Melton.
The bike was then located by Melton police and highway patrol as it went through multiple red lights on Coburns Road.
Police caught up to the male rider and intercepted the vehicle after he attempted to speed away, before pulling over and being promptly arrested.
The 25-year-old rider from Melton was discovered to be a disqualified learner at the time and was subject to drug testing, which returned a positive result for an illicit substance.
He was charged and bailed to appear at court at a late date for theft of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, and drug driving among other offences.
