A man has been charged following a shooting in Brookfield late last year.

The 46-year-old was arrested at a Melton South property today and interviewed by police.

Police said he has been charged with a range of offences, including intentionally causing serious injury (gross violence), reckless conduct endangering life, use of a firearm in contravention of a Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO), possessing ammunition in contravention of an FPO and cultivating narcotic plant (cannabis).

The arrest follows an alleged incident where a man was shot in the ankle on Clarkes Road, Brookfield, just after midnight on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.

Police will allege that a now 28-year-old Melton West man was travelling alone when his vehicle was rammed, before a driver approached his vehicle and shot him in the ankle.

The 28-year-old was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 46-year-old man will appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court later today.
