Melton libraries will be bringing the beach to book-lovers this summer with a range of activities to help beat the heat.
Everything from author talks to craft sessions will be happening at libraries across the municipality including the Summer Reading Club, which offers avid young readers a chance to win prizes.
Kids can dive into the Summertime Fun-Time program from January 10, where they can read stories and make their own sandcastle craft.
Other highlights include Maltese cooking classes, art exhibitions, batik workshop, and preschool story time.
Mayor Bob Turner said the activities had been planned so residents could find a range of events.
“There’s something for kids, teens and adults, so checking out the What’s On calendar is a must,” Cr Turner said.
“The library is such a fantastic asset and invaluable resource for the community, so I encourage everyone to visit their local library to get involved.”
Events will be held right across Melton, including at Diggers Rest Hall, Rockbank Hall and Eynesbury.
Library opening hours will alter slightly over the Christmas and New Year break.
