Booklovers, history buffs, and kids who adore storytime rejoice – you can still get your literary fix.
Melton council has unveiled its ‘virtual library’ which will have a number of the library’s services available online.
Last week, the council also began a new online adaptation of its regular storytime, toddler time and baby bounce sessions.
The program caters for babies through to five-year-olds, introducing them to rhymes, reading, and singing, and helping them to develop their listening and language skills.
The video sessions add to existing library eCollections which include thousands of ebooks, audiobooks, music and movies, as well as online education courses, magazine and newspaper access.
Melton mayor Lara Carli said accessing the library online was an ideal stay at-home activity.
“This is the perfect opportunity to discover the many interesting and interactive things our online library has to offer,” she said.
“Why not use this time at home to research your own ancestry, learn a new skill online, or build your kids’ interest in reading?”
She said it’s a good way to enjoy the services until they reopen.
“Storytime, toddler time and baby bounce are not just great fun, they help little kids develop language and fine motor skills, so please join in online.
“We can’t wait to welcome you all back to our libraries but in the meantime, there are so many fascinating books to read, movies to discover, and courses to take.”
