A two-week construction blitz for the new Melton Station will kick off next week, with works set to remove four level crossings.
Works are underway to build new rail bridges over Coburns and Exford roads, Melton, and construct road bridges over the rail line at Ferris Road in Melton and Hopkins Road in Truganina.
Coaches will replace trains on sections of the Ballarat Line from Saturday, May 24, to Saturday, June 7 as crews complete excavation, surface preparation, track works and line marking in the rail corridor.
This includes 24/7 works from 2.30am on Saturday, May 24 to 4am on Tuesday, June 3.
A new roundabout will be built at the intersection of Hazel Street and Brooklyn Road and the entrance to the Melton Station Square Shopping Centre will be rebuilt to allow for future bus services in the area.
At Hopkins Road in Truganina, crews will undertake structural works in the rail corridor and non-destructive digging to locate underground services, while major construction will also ramp up at Ferris Road in Melton, with piling works in the rail corridor.
The new Melton Station will include four platforms and will be used to accommodate trains starting and terminating at Melton, as well as Ballarat services.
All four level crossings will be removed and the new station will open in 2026.
