Last chance to donate to council’s Festive Food Drive

There’s less than a week left to donate to the Festive Food Drive organised by Melton council to support vulnerable families within the municipality this Christmas period.

The festive season is a time of celebration, however for some families the joy is lost due to the extra costs the season brings.

This year extra food donations could make a particular difference, Star Weekly has reported that Melton food bank services such as Combined Churches Caring Melton and Sureway International Christian Ministries have seen sharp increases in demand in the wake of increasing living costs.

Melton council is inviting residents to support the area’s most vulnerable families, and make a difference this season by donating pantry food items until Wednesday, November 30 at one of the following community centres.

Fraser Rise Children’s and Community Centre at 46 City Vista Court, Fraser Rise.

Timbertop Children’s and Community Centre at 1 Timber Top Parade, Aintree. Drop off times

Melton Central Community Centre at 239 Station Road, Melton.

Drop Off Times for all locations are between 8.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday, and donation boxes are located in the foyer of the centres.

Council asks that all food donated is non-perishable, unopened, in its original packaging, is in date, and is undamaged.
