Landfill plans on the agenda

Community members are invited to information sessions to discuss the planned expansion of the Ravenhall landfill.
The state government has ‘called in’ Cleanaway’s application to expand the size and life of the landfill, which will be considered by an independent panel.
EPA development assessments manager Tim Faragher said Cleanaway would need a planning permit approval and works approval.
Officers from the Environment Protection Authority and Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning will be at the sessions to help people understand the process.
“Community members are invited to drop in at any time and view information about the proposal, the joint process for the planning permit and works approval applications and how to get involved,” Mr Faragher said.
“An independent planning panel will consider all submissions in relation to the works approval and planning permit.
“Following the panel’s report, the Minister for Planning will make a decision on the planning permit application and EPA will make a decision on the works approval application.”
Submissions and objections to the proposal must be made by 5pm on Friday, July 15.
The drop-in information sessions will be between 11am and 4pm on Sunday, June 19, and 2-8pm on Monday, June 20 at WestWaters Hotel and Entertainment Complex, 10 Lake Street, Caroline Springs.
RSVP to the information sessions by emailing mrlinfosession@epa.vic.gov.au or calling 1300 372 842.
