For the past few years, Kurunjang Secondary College has been on a mission to “beautify” its gardens.
The school now boasts vegie patches, vertical gardens and hundreds of native plants.
On Wednesday, students will plant about 65 saplings as part of National Tree Planting Day.
School attendance officer Samantha Vella said tree-planting initiatives were vital to teaching students about the value of gardening and the importance of looking after the environment.
“A lot of our children didn’t know where vegies came from,” Ms Vella said.
“This will beautify the gardens, raise a bit more awareness.”
Ms Vella said the planting would go ahead, rail, hail or shine.
