Kurunjang Secondary College students locked up their principal last week – all for a good cause.
The lunch-time incaceration of John Mitsinikos was a way to raise awareness about mental health and money for support service Lifeline.
Mr Mitsinikos was taken “into custody” by Melton police before being locked up in his timber ‘jail cell’, built by the school’s Hands on Learning students.
College student support service leader Melanie Hayward said the initiative was about bridging the gap between local police and young people and raising funds for Lifeline.
“We are hoping for students to see police in a really positive light,” she said.
“They were on site and will be having lots of conversations.
“Mr Mitsinikos was a little hesitant at first, but he came fully on board and understood the premise behind it.”
