Industry grants & Western Water – Briefs, June 28, 2016

Industry grants offered

Ravenhall manufacturer Fitmycar received a $42,000 cash injection last week as the state government announced funding from its Future Industries manufacturing program.

The company will use the money to automate its manual manufacturing process and increase exports.

Businesses can apply for grants of up to $500,000 through www.business.vic.gov.au/fimp or by calling 13 22 15.

Penalties for bad mouths

A Bacchus Marsh junior footballer, who pleaded guilty to using coarse language to an umpire at an under-16.5 reserves Ballarat Football League game last month, has received a two-week suspension.

Another Bacchus Marsh player received a week’s suspension, also for using coarse language.

Water supply switched

Melton residents may notice a change in their drinking water over coming weeks as Western Water switches over to the Melbourne supply system.

The Merrimu Reservoir, which usually supplies Melton, Melton South, Eynesbury, Hopetoun Park, Rockbank, Plumpton, Kurunjang and Toolern Vale, has dropped to around nine per cent of capacity following the third-hottest Victorian summer on record, general manager Graham Holt said.
