Young people are turning up the volume on their school holidays in Melton.
The On Track school holiday program is on until Friday (January 25) at Melton Secondary College, Catholic Regional College and Staughton College, letting students mix with expert musicians and industry specialists.
Project co-ordinator Alie Pickin said it was the third time the On Track program had been run.
“On Track is a truly inspiring program that brings students together to connect through the power of music,” Ms Pickin said.
“The kids are really excited and hopefully the kids will find a new way to express themselves through a creative outlet and kick-start them into the music industry.
“We hope that the program could be the start of a new path for them.”
The free program, supported by music company Mushroom Group, includes specialist DJ classes where students learns how to spin with internationally touring DJs and guest speakers giving advice about breaking into the music industry in Australia.
Students also write, rap and perform their own music in the hip hop classes. Details: alie.pickin@mushroomgroup.com
