A new market starring the best local makers and growers is coming to the Melton area.

Kicking off on Easter Monday, the Cornwall Park Makers & Growers Market will feature more than 30 stalls showcasing the best of the local region, from crafts and clothes to food and drink.

Organiser Dotty Hazel said the location was a perfect fit for the area.

“All the Melton markets are either central or south, there’s nothing really up that end of town – so it’s the perfect location,” Ms Hazel said.

“The idea is to feature the makers and growers of all the regions around us, so generally speaking it will all be handmade or homegrown stuff there, which is fantastic.

“The aim is to not flood it with lots of the same stall, or have 150 stalls, but to have one or at most two stalls for each product and give them the opportunity to grow with us.”

As well as the stalls, the market hopes to feature different workshops each month, starting with kids pasta making from the Knife N Fork cooking school.

“I’m not sure there’s any other markets that do things like that – I haven’t heard of that,” Ms Hazel said.

“They will be paid workshops that people will have to book into, but they’ll get to take something home, so that’s something a bit different for us.”

Following Easter, the market will run on the third Sunday of each month from 11am-4pm at 2389-2485 Diggers Rest-Coimadai Road, Toolern Vale.
