Police have released a CCTV image hoping to identify a vehicle that may have been involved in the shooting of a man in Brookfield last December.

Armed Crime Squad detectives have been told a now 28-year-old Melton West man was travelling on Clarkes Road alone in his white Holden Commodore station wagon when he was followed by two other vehicles just after midnight on December 30.

The victim’s car was rammed, and the driver of a small white hatch and a passenger in a dark SUV exited their vehicles and approached the victim’s vehicle, before firing a shot into his ankle.

The offenders returned to the white hatch and fled the scene, before the victim phoned two friends who took him to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives have released CCTV of a vehicle they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The footage shows a white small hatchback pulling up outside a venue on High Street in Melton about 3.20am on January 1.

Police are hoping to identify the driver of the vehicle and its two passengers.

Anyone who recognises the vehicle or with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
