Police believe human remains found in Mount Egerton are those of missing Ballan man Albert Smith.
The remains were located in bushland just off Yendon-Egerton Road about 9.30am on April 29.
Police believe they are the remains of Albert Smith, 88, who was last seen on Inglis Street, Ballan in October last year.
A report will be prepared for the coroner but there are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery.
